Where to Find the Best Restaurants in NYC

So you’re coming to New York City for the first time. You’ve heard all the great things about the food, but you have no idea where to go! Here is a quick rundown to some of the best restaurants, and neighborhoods, to dine in on your trip to New York.

When it comes to the East Village, there is never a shortage of options. I currently live in the East Village and sometimes the number of dining options overwhelms me. Some of the best restaurants in the area include, but are not limited to Graffiti, Hearth and Momofuku Ko. Regardless of what you’re in the mood for, this is certainly an area to get your fix.

If you are trying to keep it cheap in the East Village, there are still great options. You can have anything from Vietnamese sandwiches (Nicky’s Vietnamese is my favorite) to Venezuelan (Caracas Arepa Bar) to Maine-style Lobster Rolls (Luke’s Lobster Bar).

The West Village has a ton of fantastic restaurants to choose from. Babbo, Little Owl and Dell’Anima are some of my favorites in the area. The restaurants in this part of the city tend to be on the expensive side, so be ready to spend if you’re looking to eat around here.

Another great area to eat in is Tribeca. There are constantly new restaurants appearing in this neighborhood, but some of the best ones include LandMarc, Locanda Verde and Nobu. It is a bit of a trek to get down here, but its worth it.

When it comes to fine dining, the best area to eat is definitely Columbus Circle. This is the mecca for great restaurants. Per Se was just voted as one of the top ten restaurants in the world, meaning you’ll have to call 60 days in advance to get your reservation. Marea just was awarded the James Beard award for best new restaurant. The list goes on.

One last area that I love is Nolita. It is a small area but packed with great restaurants. Kenmare, Village Tart, and La Esquina are some of my favorites. Peasant is another great one that will make you feel as if you are in Italy. Even the menu is Italian.
